well last night a huge branch from our mango tree by our back door came crashing down. the wind and the rain being too much for it. we are happy though that it didn't hit either of our water tanks or any of the water pipes in that area. also that it didn't crash into our house, but rather fell towards the concrete fence. so despite the gunshot-like sounds of it breaking off we are no worse for wear. apparently termites are quite taken with mango trees.
also caught a rare glimpse of "old-eight legs," as he or she has been termed. actually it was the second coming of "old eight legs" because there may be two of these creatures. this version is the slimmer, more streamlined version. it also happened that Minia, our helper, was present and informed us that this spider is in fact poisonous. that of course made Mary all the more comfortable with its presence. Minia went on to catch the spider, wearing rubber gloves, all the while Mary is perched on the couch, acting calm of course. thus ends the tale, for now, of "old eight legs" until he/she returns as Minia released it unharmed into the wild.
until next time.
