training going well - 2 weeks down, 3 to go...

hey all. been in cebu for 2 weeks now and things are going well. the first two weeks are often seen as the two toughest weeks, heavy on material and assignments. plus many of the students are learning TESOL jargon and getting used to the territory. all 20 students are still with us and picking up the material and methods, and showing us that they can implement them too through their student teaching.
mary arrived tuesday of this past week and so she has been helping with lesson preparations and exploring the city. we were able to go to the beach yesterday and had a beautiful day there, complete with a huge buffet lunch. we are truly being spoiled by our Chinese-Filipino hosts in regards to food, having eaten at probably 3 of the best restaurants in Cebu.
sam, the director of ACT, is back in Manila this week and so i will be shouldering the majority of the teaching this week, although Dr. Bob Martin from Chicago is also out here helping a bit. you can pray for me in that regard as i am still not that familiar with the ACT curriculum, this being only my second 5-week training with these materials. we would also appreciate your prayers for jobs back in the states upon our return. we already have felt God's answers to prayer through the care-giver job (full-time job for Mary) that he has supplied and we are so thankful for that.
till next time, Nathan

Well . . . Southern MB is always in need of skilled workers. And what with all the immigrants from Germany needing to know how to speak English . . .

take that into mind...but it seems to me that they can get around vankler and area just fine without learning English.
